You too can become a Guitar Superstar!

Portrait of Jimmy

“Hello, my name is Jim Hall.”

I’ve been teaching guitar since 1981 and have worked in the professional music industry all my life. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to play like their favourite guitar heroes and that, with the right guidance and plenty of practice, anyone can become a Guitar Superstar!

Times and technologies have changed since I first began teaching almost thirty years ago. But the need for personal, one-to-one guitar tuition is just as valuable as ever — if not more so! When it comes to learning an instrument and being able to play competently, there is no substitute for the time–honoured tradition of personalised tuition from a professional musician.

Every pupil is unique! As such, my approach is to focus exclusively on the individual goals of the pupil and to work towards those goals with the minimum number of lessons and the maximum amount of insight.

Whatever your Style…

I am experienced in and teach all styles of guitar, both classical and contemporary.

Whatever your Skill…

Whatever your Aim…

My pupils range from those who simply wish to express themselves through the guitar to those seeking to become a professional session musician or to go on to higher education.

Guide For Parents

My particular teaching method is best suited to pupils aged 10 and above. A certain level of maturity and commitment on the part of the child is essential. For this reason, I will only consider teaching pupils aged 7–10 in the right circumstances. This is in the best interests of the child.

In addition, the combined cost of lessons and the equipment needed to learn the guitar is something that needs consideration. Therefore, I often recommend to parents that children under 10 first learn to play an instrument such as the recorder or sing in a choir, in order to build a sense of musicality and discipline. These attributes are vital when learning a complex instrument such as the guitar.
